Introduction to Faculty of Information Technology

The Faculty of Information Technology at Ha Long University is one of the earliest established faculties, with the mission of providing qualified IT engineers for Quang Ninh Province and surrounding areas.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam was projected to need around 1 million IT professionals by 2020, with demand for IT skills growing by approximately 47% annually. However, the workforce has only increased by about 8% per year, leading to a significant shortage of IT personnel. This highlights the strong career opportunities and advantages of pursuing studies in Information Technology.

The Faculty offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, Graphic Design, and Informatics Education, as well as a Master’s program in Computer Science.

Key Strengths of the Faculty:

– The Faculty is the only institution offering undergraduate IT programs in Quang Ninh Province. It has established partnerships with leading technology companies such as VNPT, FPT, Viettel, and Microsoft, providing students with scholarships, internships, and job opportunities after graduation.

– In addition to a highly qualified academic staff (including PhD and Master’s degree holders trained both domestically and internationally), students also have opportunities to learn from Microsoft experts and professional software engineers from major companies. This ensures strong practical skills and industry readiness.

– The Microsoft Innovation Center in Ha Long, a collaboration between Ha Long University, Microsoft, the Quang Ninh Department of Information and Communications, and VNPT Quang Ninh, serves as an innovation hub for IT enthusiasts. It supports startups, connects students with businesses, and enhances cooperation between the university and the IT industry.
